Teaching Journey: 2020–2025

Teaching the Future: Empowering the Next Generation with Technical Confidence and Clarity

I got my first taste of teaching in 2020, working with K–6 students and introducing them to the world of computers. Through Code.org and beginner-friendly Python projects, I discovered how much I loved making technology approachable, even for the youngest learners. That experience sparked something in me.

Fast forward to today, and I’ve turned that passion into a full-time career in higher education. After graduating from SLCC with high honors in Computer Science & Information Systems, I launched a one-of-a-kind program designed to teach foundational computer skills, certification prep, and hands-on IT training. I now teach Basic Computer Skills (BCS), CompTIA A+, and Security+—bridging gaps for students from all walks of life.

What I’ve learned is that effective teaching and leadership go hand-in-hand. I specialize in breaking down complex technical topics into simple, relatable terms. Whether I’m guiding a new college student, mentoring a help desk technician, or working alongside a CFO, I adapt my communication style to meet the audience—often using analogies or real-world comparisons to make concepts click.

As John C. Maxwell said in The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership: "The secret to success is found in your daily agenda." Teaching has helped me lead with patience, purpose, and the ability to connect across technical and non-technical teams alike.

It was a privilege teaching these elementary students. I believe learning to code should be fun and engaging—and when you bring joy into the process, students thrive.
